Welcome to the second year of Poppin's Book Nook! This months theme was Where in the World? For our book I chose to go with the fantastical approach rather then the geographical, and, as a result, chose to start reading my kids the Chronicles of Narnia (or Narnana as Eli says). We made it through The Magician's Nephew, and we have just started The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Really The Magician's Nephew is quite fitting for the topic of Where in the World as it actually talks of many worlds as well as the wood between the worlds. Nothing like random worlds to leave you guessing where in the world you are!
The girls were fascinated by the creation of Narnia and how it was brought about by Aslan's singing. They were especially fascinated by the fact that anything that fell in the ground of the newly formed Narnia, including a lamp post, grew!
You can't begin to imagine how excited they were when a friend of ours pointed out that since we moved we have our own lamp post! Bria even asked if we could water it!
We didn't get to do a very intricate activity or anything with this book because the majority of our house is simply towers of boxes. In fact, I considered using moving as the activity since our world has certainly changed now, but they all really enjoyed a simple drawing activity. And as a bonus, it includes some music appreciation!
I gave them each a large piece of paper and some oil pastels; then I told them they would be creating their own version of Narnia. This is where the music comes in; I selected Spring by Vivaldi for our Narnia creations. All the kids drew whatever they thought the music sounded like to them.

In fact they were still drawing when it ended, so I started playing Summer for them! In the end they sat through the entire 4 Seasons although they only drew through half of it!
The girls each drew music, Aslan, the tree, and horses...lots of horses. Eli said he drew a lion, but it was a bit abstract! We are all pretty excited now to finish the series too!
