I was compensated for my time and provided with a copy of this curriculum for review purposes, but all opinions expressed are my own.
These days anxiety and depression is on the rise at all age levels. We shouldn't be surprised given the current events, but what can we as parents do? How can we help our own kids to have good mental health? Well, we can engage our kids in social and emotional learning, so they will have self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills.
These 5 areas also happen to be the guidelines of the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Success (CASEL) which is the nation's leading organization advancing the development of academic, social and emotional competence for all students.
Sounds great but a bit complicated. Luckily, HeyKiddo Huddle is available to support us!
What is HeyKiddo Huddle?
HeyKiddo Huddle is a one year, comprehensive, social-emotional curriculum that guides you through each of these topics with your kids.
Each week, you receive an email with a little background information and a link to the weeks social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum. You can also head directly to the site to find the curriculum if your emails tend to get a bit out of control. Five discussion questions to cover with your kids are provided each week. There is also a short video with information for the parent and an optional creative activity to further engage your kids with the topic.
Since you get five discussion questions a week, you only need to cover one a day and there is zero prep work. It literally takes 15 minutes to add HeyKiddo to your day! Just 15 minutes to help your kids build skills like self-awareness, mindfulness, positive mindset, empathy, critical thinking, resilience, and more.
