I received a free trial to Education Perfect and was compensated for my time. All opinions are my own.
"What do you want to learn next year?" or "What are you interested in learning?" or "Do you have anything specific you want to learn about"
These are all questions I ask my kids each year, and for some the answers are easy. Then there are the others. The ones that always respond, "I don't know." Education Perfect encourages kids to explore learning independently.
What is Education Perfect?
Education Perfect is an online learning platform geared toward ages 9-18. They have over 40,000 lessons across a wide variety of subjects including core subjects like English and math, but also technology, economics, and a large selection of foreign languages. All of these lessons are available all the time for any student, so Education Perfect is a whole family program. In fact, one fee covers up to five kids!
Amazing Assets of Education Perfect
- Students have private accounts you can track and assign
- Students also can select their own subjects
- Self Grading
- Tracks Time
- Gamification
- One account works for up to 5 kids
- Great customer service
Education Perfect actually provides more flexibility for students than many online learning platforms I have seen. Each student is given their own account that nests under your parent account. As the parent/ homeschool teacher you still have the ability to track progress and assign lessons. However, the students also have the ability to explore any subject on the platform at any time and in any grade.
Now, there is some controversial material on Education Perfect in the Health and PE section, and if this is a problem for your family, you do have the ability to hide those lessons.
All lessons on Education Perfect are graded either by the program or by the student. Since reading TEACH by Dennis DiNoia I am all for student's grading their own work, so I was actually excited to see this in the economics lesson my oldest was looking at.
Not only does Education Perfect allow you to assign lessons and track progress, but it also tracks time spent learning by subject. This doesn't apply to all homeschools, but here in Missouri we have to track the amount of time spent doing lessons, so this makes hour tracking so much easier.
If you are assigning specific lessons on Education Perfect, they have also added some gamification to the site to encourage the kids to spend time completing and even improving at those subjects. The lessons end in a little speed game called Dash that reviews the lesson. They also have homeschool learning competitions the kids can enter to win prizes by learning!
As mentioned above, each account will work for up to 5 kids, and while the majority of the lessons are geared for kids ages 9-18, we did find some first grade music lessons, so you can definitely do some learning with the littles with Education Perfect too.
With any learning platform, good customer service is essential, and Education Perfect does not disappoint. In fact homeschoolers have the opportunity to attend a crash course on how to homeschool with Education Perfect as well as the ability to sign up for a free 15 minute demo of the site.
